Dave was a graduate of Southmoreland High School with the class of 1964.He had been a resident of Hopwood for the last 4 years. Dave was a retired Captain for the Pennsylvania State Police and most recently had been working as a truck driver for Shane Transport of New Salem. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Navy. Dave was a member and Past Master of King Solomon's Lodge #346 F&AM and the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection. He was a member of the Followers of Christ Fellowship Church in Dunbar.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Susan J. Porreca Coughanour, his son David Alan Coughanour and his girlfriend Valerie of Falls Church VA., his stepsons Shawn Phillips and wife Kathy of Brownsville and Jason Lee of Uniontown, his step grandchildren, Tyler and Colin Phillips, his brother James Coughanour and wife Joyce of Scottdale, his sister Carol Taconi of Scottdale, and several nieces and nephews.
