Obituary:
Francis P. "Frank" Shandorf, 93, of Connellsville died Friday July 16, 2010 in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born September 5, 1916 in Everson a son of the late Frank and Julia Collins Shandorf. He was a graduate of the former Scottdale High School, Class of 1935. Frank was a retired machine operator at the former Connellsville Steel Supply Company where he was employed for 46 years. Frank was a talented musician who specialized in playing the trumpet. He was the leader of the Frankie Shan Orchestra which originated in the late 1940's and was well known throughout the Fayette County area. They played" Music Styled for You.". He was a Life member of the Knight of Columbus Council #948 and the F.O. Eagles #493. He was also a member of the American Federation of Musicians and a Life Member of the Uniontown Musical Society # 596. He is survived by three stepdaughters, Nola Laughery and her husband Robert of Connellsville, Sandra Herman and her husband Albert of Connellsville and Sharon Freed and her husband Joseph of Raleigh, N.C.; 17 step grandchildren, 24 step great grandchildren and 3 step great great grandchildren; one sister, Dolores J. Santarel and her husband Vincent of Everson and one brother, John Shandorf of Erie, Pa. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Wilma Benford Thompson Shandorf; his second wife, Blanche Newcomer May Shandorf; his brothers, Henry, Daniel, William and Thomas Shandorf and his sisters, Anna Lovasz, Sara Hamilton, Mary Blackburn and Rita Newcomer. Friends will be received from 6-9 P.M. Sunday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville with Rev.
