Obituary:
George C. Chearney, 77, of Acme, passed away unexpectedly Thur. July 8, 2010 at the home of his son, where he was residing at the time. He was born May 15, 1933 in Saltlick Twp, Fayette County a son of the late Rudolph and Beulah Snyder Chearney. George was a lifelong resident of Acme. Prior to his retirement he was a self employed carpenter. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Donegal VFW #6743. He was a member of the Davistown United Methodist Church.

George is survived by his loving wife Wilda J. Anderson Chearney, his children Debra Furfari and husband Joseph of Johnstown, Danny L. McMillen and wife Pamela of Acme, and Susan G. Ramage and husband Ray of Acme, his grandchildren Anthony, Michael, and Anne Furfari, Daniel McMillen, and Allyson Wright, his brother Herbert Chearney and wife Donna of Acme, his sisters Phyllis Mentzer of Harpers Ferry, VA., and Kathryn Jones and husband James of Pawley's Island SC., and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents George was predeceased by a sister Velma Ash and 3 brothers Homer E., Edward, and Dale"Dick" Chearney.

Family and friends will be received Fri. from 2-9 PM in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc, at the corner of route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft, where a funeral service will be held Sat. at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul C. Freidhof officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Davistown U.M.
