Brooks
Funeral Home, Inc. has been serving the Fay-West area since the
early 1850's with service exceeding all expectations for over 150
years of continuous service.
Henry
Felgar began a preservation process in the 1850's and also began
to manufacture coffins. His grandson Samuel Clymer Brooks began
embalming, as we know it today. Shortly after this time, the son
of Samuel Clymer Brooks, the late Clyde Beal Brooks, established
one of the first funeral homes in the area located in the heart
of the Indian Creek Valley.
Finding the need to expand the business, the firm opened a funeral
home in Connellsville, which was run by Clyde B. Brooks and his
daughter, Jeanne Brooks King.
In
1958 Samuel Clyde Brooks, son of the late Clyde B. Brooks, joined
the firm. Today Samuel C. Brooks, serves as president of the corporation.
Under the direction of Samuel C. Brooks, the business has grown
into the modern-day funeral homes, as we know them.
In
1986 the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc expanded into Mt. Pleasant in
order to provide complete funeral service for the people of Mt.
Pleasant.

Samuel
C. Brooks is joined in the business by his two sons, David Samuel
Brooks, supervisor of the Mt. Pleasant funeral home and Mark C.
Brooks, associate director. Also, Samuel's daughter, Amy L. Brooks
Hertznell, is active in the business as clerical supervisor.
The
Brooks family and business is continuing to grow to meet the growing
needs of the families of the Fay-West area.
